Ty Stone & The Truth Bring Louisiana Everything They’ve Got

Ty Stone & The Truth in one word - Power. From Ty’s opening vocal note on “Blessed St. Anthony”, to the last band note in “Line of Blood,” power exuded. The force from Ty’s voice is like nothing I’ve ever experienced. His talent flows flawlessly with no strain at all. On top of that, Ty offers more than just something to bob your head to. His lyrical content shows he is one of the great modern day storytellers. When you see The Truth live, it’s easy to see how much passion he puts into it.
During their performance of “American Dream”, Ty sings “I hear you talking, put your money where your mouth is”. At that exact moment, an eager fan decided to tip Ty by holding a $5 bill in the air in front of him, which was quickly grabbed and placed in his front shirt pocket. In addition to the originals, The Truth coveredJohn Mellencamp’s “Hurts So Good” andBilly Idol’s “Rebel Yell”, which quickly got the crowd involved by singing and swaying. Ty claimed “Down River” to be the last song and, once completed, decided they’d “sneak another one in as long as [we] don’t tell anybody.” A voice from the crowd was heard yelling for “Line of Blood”, and the band obliged.
I would like to bring up two specific points about this performance. First, Bourbon Creek is not a large, glamorous venue. It’s more or less a hole-in-the-wall honky-tonk in the middle of “Nowhere”, Louisiana. That didn’t matter to the band members. They gave a performance that would have done theGrammys proud. Secondly, we have since discovered, through Ty’s Facebook page that he hasn’t been feeling well since Kid Rock’s “Chillin’ The Most” Cruise, which ended with Ty’s trip to the emergency room at a New Orleans hospital after the show Saturday night. Despite these setbacks, the shows did NOT suffer in the least. I have seen Ty three times, two of which were with The Truth. Not one of these shows failed to be mind-blowing!
